Hitty

There is a real Hitty doll!

Although my daughter and I had read the book "Hitty Her First Hundred Years" earlier in our homeschooling years, it is only recently that I became aware of the fact that the book is based on a real antique wooden doll. The doll was jointly purchased by Rachel Field and Dorothy Lathrop, the author and illustrator of the Newberry award winning book. The doll is now in the Stockbridge Library in Massachusetts. I have become fascinated with the history of this doll and the replications of her by various artists.

My First Hitty

My first Hitty is a Hitty-Kin from DRC Design
(link below). Her name is Hitty Lynn and she is my travel doll. I enjoy sewing, crocheting and making scale items for her.

If your Hitty would like a crocheted coverlet like Hitty Lynn's in the picture, you may email me for information at countrycupboard7@cs.com.
