General
Information
Upper Merion Boat Club is located on the
Schuylkill River, in Montgomery County, about 15 miles north and west of the
famous Boathouse Row in Philadelphia. The Club was formed in 1986 under the
guidance of Tom Pappanastasiou, who
still serves as our Commodore and general rowing guru. We currently have the
following boats available for club member usage:

As you can see, we are almost exclusively a
sculling club, but sweepies are welcome!

Club
Rowing Times
Beginning with Daylight Savings Time, club rows
are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday
mornings at 7:00am. During Eastern Standard Time, club rows are Saturday and
Sunday mornings at 8:00am. Club rows are open to all rowers of all abilities.
This is an especially good time for new rowers to come out and try the sport
for free!

Late 1960's Pocock 4x/4-.
The boat is in good shape for a boat that's thirty years old. It would be an
excellent boat for a novice crew or a beginning program. Wood hull, good
"bar" boat $1,000.00 or best offer.

various wooden sweep oars in fair condition, $100.00 each

For your gig or Alden,
various pairs of fiberglass sculling oars $80.00 a pair, some Concept II's some
others.

Directions to Boathouse
From the junction
of the PA Turnpike (I-276), the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) and Route 202 in
King of Prussia, proceed North on 202 to Business 202 ("DeKalb St.
Bridgeport"). Bear left at the first light (staying on DeKalb) and go
straight through the next light (junction with Route 23). At the next light,
turn left into the parking lot for "Sunsational", proceeding about
300 yards along the river to the boathouse bay.
From I-95 North,
take the Blue Route (I-476) North to the Conschohocken Route 23 exit. Go west
on Route 23, following it to the junction with DeKalb St. Turn right on DeKalb
and at the next light, turn left into the parking lot for
"Sunsational", proceeding about 300 yards along the river to the
boathouse bay.
From the
Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) East or West, take the Conschohocken Route 23 exit.
Go west on Route 23, following it to the junction with DeKalb St./Route 202.
Turn right on DeKalb and make a left at the first light, into the
"Sunsational" parking lot. Follow about 300 yards along the river to
the boathouse bay.

King's
Head XIII - Regatta on the Schuylkill
Join us for our
thirteenth year of good rowing at the King's Head XIII, on Sunday, September
26, 1999 for a day of great competition in King of Prussia.
To get an entry form for next year's race, call or email Tom Pappanastasiou (610/337-3624) - he'll
FAX or mail you one immediately. But for even faster service, we've put our registration form
online. All you have to do is print it out and fill it in.
In addition to the information on this page, make sure you get a copy of the Release
Form, and check the schedule of events.
