" We should all be wary of those who think they can solve our mail problems by looking at charts and figures and never stepping inside a Post office or a carrier annex or a bulk mail center. There you will find employees working hard every day to make the mail happen in this nation. In a privatized world, the mail volume would be the same, but the employees would be fractured. One company would bid Manhattan while another would bid Florida and yet another Wyoming. The Manhattan company would make money, the Florida company would win only in winter while Wyoming would always lose. The beauty of a centralized, controlled, constitution mandated monopoly is that there is one price, one standard, one service.".
